In a surprise announcement, BBC revealed that actor John Simm who played villain The Master in Doctor Who to David Tennant's Time Lord will be back on the show for season 10 of 2005 revival.

As Peter Capaldi became the new Doctor, The Master also regenerated and became Missy. The character is played by actress Michelle Gomez.

Simm told Radio Times, "I can confirm that it’s true. Thanks to the power of time travel I’m back. It’s always a pleasure to work with this great team of people, and I can’t wait for you all to see what The Master gets up to in the next series."

Simm's Master and Gomez's Missy will be involved in solo personality clash, according to the showrunner Steven Moffat. He did not reveal how The Master will be introduced in the season but he admitted that it's been a huge pleasure to have two fan-favourite villains face off in the same role.

Apart from the archenemy the Daleks and old foes the Mondasian Cybermen, The Master too will be on the list of returning villains to bid goodbye to Peter Capaldi as he departs from the show with Moffat.

Chris Chibnall of Broadchurch will take the reigns from Moffat as showrunner while the search for new Doctor continues.

The latest season of Doctor Who returns April 15 with new companion Pearl Mackie as Bill Potts and Matt Lucas as Nardole.
