Director Priyadarshan and his estranged wife Lissy have finally filed for a divorce by mutual consent. Initially, both Priyadarshan and Lissy had filed separate lawsuits regarding the property. The renowned director had stated earlier that he was the sole and absolute owner of a residential property and a non-residential property (the preview theatre in Nungambakkam). Lissy had then filed a suit stating that the property had to be divided into two shares out of which one was to be allotted to her.

Lissy, a former actress, had also filed a criminal case against the director under the Domestic Violence Act in 2015. She had approached the court for a divorce in 2014. The director had in turn filed a case against her in the Madras High Court. All these cases had been pending all along.

They were directed to appear before the judge on January 12 and they did so. A report in Deccan Chronicle states that both of them had ruled out the possibility of reconciliation so they decided to settle matter amicably for the sake of their children. Priyadarshan agreed to divorce by mutual consent if Lissy took back her cases against him. Now they have agreed to divorce by mutual consent and to split the property. Lissy would be given a residential flat and the preview theatre in Chennai.

Lissy and Priyadarshan had got married in 1990 and were married for 14 years. They have a son and a daughter.
