Singer Celine Dion says she had consulted a portrait of her music producer husband Rene Angelil before agreeing to sing for the remake of "Beauty and the Beast".

The 49-year-old singer, who lost Angelil to throat cancer last year, says she was a bit unsure about singing for the Disney film, reported People magazine.

The "My Heart Will Go On" singer revealed that before finalising the deal, she went and stood before her husband's painting to seek an answer.

"I went and found one of the paintings that one of the fans gave me of my husband and I said, 'Should I do this?' "And the answer I got back I don't want that to sound like ghostly or anything like that but emotionally what I got back from that was, 'You have nothing to lose.'" she told the Sun newspaper.
