Dilwale’s love anthem, the film’s first song release, will be out tomorrow! A source reveals, “This song features Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol, has been filmed in Iceland and is called Rang De Tu Mohe Gerua.

SRK adds, “Every song has a different reason in the film. There is a celebration song, a dream sequence song with the cast, which is larger-than-life. Rohit felt that since Kajol and I are returning to the screen after so many years, we should at least try to make Rang De... stand out, better than all the other songs that we have done together pehle. Aur hum dono ne bahut sundar-sundar gaane kiye hain pehle. We are fortunate to have done those songs. So Rohit was very clear about the whole thing. His choice of locations, the details of the clothing, everything he’s paid attention to because he wanted to.”

How would he define the song in a line? “It captures the old world charm of Kajol and me and is still presented in a manner which is extremely Rohit Shetty,” he smiles. Although there are a lot of montage shots of SRK-Kajol in the trailer, there are barely two scenes featuring the two. Rohit explains, “There’s a particular reason I planned it this way. If you see, I haven’t shown you too many scenes of Kajol and Shah Rukh because if I did that, the charm of the film would be lost. Woh charm aap theatre mein dekhoge toh you’ll realise kya wajah hai aur kyun kiya gaya hai aisa.”

SRK adds, “The biggest quality of Rohit as a director is that he is very clear about what he wants from his actors. He wants all his actors to better what we have done before. He tries to help the actor improve himself. Shooting for the song was extremely difficult.” SRK confirms, “Jo sariyan hawa mein ud rahi hai, woh Rohit ne aapne haath se udaye hai. It was really cold there and it’s extremely difficult to walk, but Rohit did everything with so much ease. Those things you’ll never get to know. Shayad making mein aaye! So when the director is excited to help his actors, I think the actors become much better and the song, in turn turns out to be good as well.”

Having paired opposite each other in Baazigar, Karan Arjun, DDLJ, Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham and My Name is Khan, Dilwale will be SRK and Kajol’s seventh movie together. But this is different. SRK states, “At our age, we should not try to re-create the younger days’ magic. We should rather try creating magic at the age we are in. That’s what we have done in Dilwale. We are playing our ages in one whole half of the film.”

While the entire world considers their pairing magical, SRK tells us that they have a different outlook of the same. “We don’t perceive ourselves on screen the way the audiences see us. We have been working for 20-22 years with each other now. In fact, the first three-four films of our lives, Kajol and I have done together. So there’s friendship, love and respect that exists between the two of us. I guess somewhere Rohit felt that it’s been years that we both haven’t done a film which would bring out the two facets to our on-screen pairing — where we get to re-create what we have created before and still play our age. I don’t remember Kajol doing an action comedy like this before. So it’s a first for her in this genre as well. Also, she’s very choosy about her films. So I am extremely thankful, on behalf of the whole team that she’s joined the team as a friend, an actor and a superstar and hopefully, everyone will enjoy it.”
