A lot has been said about Sonakshi Sinha's power packed role in her upcoming flick Akira. The trailer of the film has already received a thumbs up from the tinsel town as well as from the fans.At a time when the masses are used to seeing the typical portrayal of the 'damsel in distress' who is rescued by our Bollywood heroes on screen, Sonakshi's action avatar in Akira aims at breaking the stereotypical image of the heroine in Indian Cinema.

When Sona was asked if she planed to reinvent herself with this movie, she said, "I actually have not planned anything in my life. I feel like destiny always has things planned for me. I never intended on becoming an actor, I got Dabangg. That happened to me. When I did Dabangg I didn’t know what I would do after that. Whether or not I would be accepted or not accepted. When I got accepted the rest is history. Then I just kept doing the films that I did and finally when Akira happened I had kind of made the decision that I now want to do something different. I now want to do roles that really really pushed me to my limit and can extract something that the audience has not seen of me as an actor. So that’s when Akira happened."

It surely did take Sonakshi a while to be back on the silver screen. Ask her what took her so long and she chuckles, "Well it takes a while to make good things and I was shooting for Akira. The film took a little longer than expected. But it’s finally here and I promise you that the wait will be worth it."

Talking about the variety of characters that she's playing at present, Sonakshi even spills the beans on her other upcoming films, Force 2 and Noor. She says, "Force 2 I play a RAW agent which is also a very exciting role for me. Then Noor, I play a journalist, (like you all,) but that’s again the journey of a girl, it’s the story of a girl. I think all of you will be able to relate with it so well. It’s about the ups and downs of her life. It’s a fun quirky character, so I‘m really enjoying playing these different characters."

Directed by A.R Murugadoss, Akira will hit theatres on September 2.
