Karan Bijlani knows all of Hrithik Roshan’s car numbers by heart. He rattles them off as we chat with him over the phone. “I’m a huge fan of Hrithik’s. I have styled my hair like he does and I, too, don’t repeat my clothes. Bas thoda height se maar kha gaya. In my family, they call me Hrithik Bijlani. I have met him 11 times till now,” he says excitedly. Check out his Instagram account and apart from selfies with Hrithik, the 19-year-old SYBCom student of HR College has over 30 selfies with a number of celebrities including Shahid Kapoor, Ranveer Singh, Ranbir Kapoor, Sachin Tendulkar, Kangana Ranaut, Malaika Arora and others.

B-Town connection

He’s no star son, so how does he get access to these stars? “My father used to be a TV repair technician 30 years ago, so he knows a lot of people related to the Bollywood industry, including Surinder Kapoor and Sanjay Kapoor. Also, my brother-in-law owns a dance rehearsal studio and these stars often drop in to rehearse for their movie songs,” he reveals. The Juhu resident often visits the St Andrew’s ground to see his favourite actors playing football. And since he knows a lot of their car numbers by heart and even follows some of their fan pages, he lands up at the opportune time to click a selfie.

Starry encounters

His favourite encounters, of course, have been with Hrithik, but he is full of praise for Tiger, Ranbir and Ranveer, too. “I have a blue-coloured scooter. Now, whenever Hrithik, Ranveer or Shahid spot my scooter, they immediately agree to click a selfie with me because they are like, pehle picture de do, yeh ladka chhodne wala nahi hai!” Has anyone ever refused to get a picture clicked with him? “Sushant Singh Rajput,” he states without hesitation, “He’s just delivered one hit, but has a lot of attitude.” The other one, who refused to click a picture with him, is Shah Rukh Khan, but Karan’s willing to give him the benefit of doubt. “He was playing football and had got all sweaty, so he said he won’t look good in the picture. He’s really nice, though,” he adds.

Selfie reasons

His Instagram followers have gone up ever since he started posting pictures with celebrities, but Karan insists he doesn’t care about that. “I remember, I had posted a selfie with Karan Kundra and Anusha Dandekar. That’s when my follower count went up,” he recalls. No, he doesn’t want to be an actor himself. “I wanted to, but dad doesn’t and I listen to him,” he adds. But his dad also thinks that going after stars and clicking pictures with them is a waste of time. “That’s why I don’t go with him!” he laughs.

But if he isn’t doing this to get close to the actors and join Bollywood himself, then is it to impress girls? He laughs it off. “My dad asks me the same question. But I feel, agar ladki ko patna rahega, toh woh saamne se aayegi. No, I get these pictures clicked kyunki mazaa aata hai!”
