Bollywood’s resident he-man Dharmendra has a soft, sensitive side to his personality. He reveals it in his poetry which he has now recorded in his voice. After doing that, he excitedly called up Lata Mangeshkar to share the news.
Says Lata, “Though I am older than him, he calls me his choti behen and showers me with affection. He called to say he had recorded his own poetry. He has a child-like excitement about life’s new experiences even at this age. I share a wonderful equation with not just Dharamji, but also Hema. I think she’s amazingly beautiful, both as a person and in her appearance. Hema, too, recently recorded Bangla songs. She, too, called after the recording. I think they make for an ideal couple.”
Lata feels Hema would have been the ideal choice for Padmavati, had the film been made at an earlier time. “When I heard that Sanjay Leela Bhansali was making Padmavati, I immediately thought of Hema as the perfect actress for the role. If only the film had been made when she was younger, she would have been the ideal choice. Now, of course, Deepika Padukone is perfect for the role.”
