We have seen them enact roles of students from IIT, IIM or JNU and get into the skin of character roles such as renowned writers, scientists, engineers and what not!! They may sashay in films and prove their acting mettle but are they really so educated? 

Here is a dekko at the real-life educational backgrounds of our favourite stars:

Aamir Khan: The perfectionist and scientist Phunsukh Wangdu of 3 Idiots fame was not really into books and hence did not continue beyond class 12. 'Do what you love' taken too literally, eh?

Alia Bhatt: The world of glamour was just waiting for this star kid, and she was awarded 'Student of the Year' as soon as she finished schooling. She was too busy to pursue her higher education, we guess!

Anushka Sharma: An army officer's daugher, Anushka studied at the Army Scool and went on to graduate with a specialisation in arts from Mount Carmel College, Bangalore.

Arjun Kapoor: The IIM-A grad from 2 States studied in Arya Vidya Mandir school in Mumbai. Failing his board exams in class 12, Arjun decided to start assisting his father, producer Boney Kapoor.

Deepika Padukone: She studied in Sophia High School and later joined Mount Carmel College, Bangalore. She gave up on college mid way for a career in modelling and acting.

John Abraham: Probably one of the most qualified actors, John is an MBA from MET, graduate from Jai Hind College and has done his schooling from Bombay Scottish School. Whoa!

Kajol: The head girl at St. Joseph Convent boarding school at Panchgani, Kajol did Bekhudi when she was sixteen. At the age of 17, she had to eventually drop out of school in pursuit of a full time career in film post the success of Baazigar.

Kareena Kapoor Khan: Kareena did her schooling from the Jamnabai Narsee School Mumbai and Welham Girls School, Dehradun. She attended Mithibai College in Mumbai for two years, did a microcomputers summer course for 3 months from Harvard University, and then studied for a year at Government Law College, Mumbai. She had to drop out of law to become an actress!

Katrina Kaif: A model at the age of 14, Katrina never really went to school. She was home schooled because she kept travelling across the world.

Parineeti Chopra: Schooled in her home town Ambala, Parineeti went on to accomplish a triple honors feat in business, finance and economics from the Machester Business School, UK.

Priyanka Chopra: Priyanka, who went on to the US for higher studies, was finally able to do so from the Army School in Bareilly. She was also at Jai Hind College for som etime before becoming Miss World.

Ranbir Kapoor: He finished schooling from Bombay Scottish School and studied for 2 years at HR College, Mumbai. Wake Up Sid, anyone? He then went on to an acting school in New York.

Ranveer Singh: Ranveer finished a degree in arts from Indiana University, USA after attending junior college at HR College, Mumbai.

Salman Khan: Our 'bhai' was schooled in Scindia High School, Gwalior and St. Stanislaus High School, Mumbai. He dropped out of Natonal College, Bandra.

Saif Ali Khan: The Nawaab attended school at Lawrence Scool, Sanawar and then in England at Lockers Park School, Hertfordshire. Saif graduated from Winchester College.

Shah Rukh Khan: Graduate in economics from Hansraj College in Delhi, SRK left midway his Masters degree in Mass Communication from Jamia Milia Islamia.

Sonakshi Sinha: She went to Arya Vidya Mandir in Mumbai and the went on to graduate in Fashion Designing from Smt. Nathibai Damodar Women's University, Mumbai.

Sonam Kapoor: She attended the Arya Vidya Mandir in Juhu, and then enrolled in the United World College of South East Asia, Singapore, to do her International Baccalaureate. She also studied Political Science and Economics from . University of East London.

Sushant Singh Rajput: Sushant was schooled in Patna and New Delhi. He was studying at the Delhi College of Engineering (DCE), from where he dropped out in his third year to pursue a career in acting.

Varun Dhawan: 'Student of the Year' Varun Dhawan is a graduate in Business Management from Nottingham Trent University, UK.

Vidya Balan: The Dirty Picture star finished her education side-by-side her TV acting career. Schooled at St. Anthony Girls' High School, Chembur; Vidya graduated in Sociology from St. Xaviers College, Mumbai.
