Former Baywatch star David Hasselhoff is set to host a special TV show to pay tribute to the victims of the Gulf of Mexico oil spill.

The one-hour special, titled The Gulf Is Back, will feature musical performances from acts including Brian McKnight, Lonestar, Taylor Hicks and Chris Massey, reports the Daily Express.

The show will also include tributes to the residents of Mississippi and real life stories of those whose livelihood has been affected by the spill, which has caused havoc in areas along the Gulf Coast after a BP oil rig ruptured on 10 April, 2010.

The show will be shot over two days of free concerts at the Coast Coliseum in Biloxi, Mississippi and will air on America's CW network on 27 August.
