'Darbar' Box Office Day 1: Rajinikanth's film earns big, surpasses Chhapaak & Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior worldwide

Mahesh Babu's film 'Sarileru Neekevvaru' released in theatres today and the movie has worked extremely well in the USA. Before its release, Rajinikanth's 'Darbar' was ruling over theatres all across. The movie worked well not only in India and the USA, but also worked great in Australia and Singapore.

According to trade analyst Ramesh Bala, Rajinikanth's 'Darbar' earned Rs. 1.20 crore in Hindi version all-India. Out of the same, the movie worked well in Tamil itself, with collections of Rs. 70 lakhs.

The movie, like Deepika Padukone's 'Chhapaak' and 'Sarileru Neekevvaru', opened well in Singapore. It neared $8,50,000 in the USA while in Australia the movie already crossed Australian dollars 250,000. According to the reports of two days, including premieres, 'Darbar' minted $189,000 on day 1, and $837,000 if paid preview and premieres are to be counted.

Directed by A.R. Murugadoss, Darbar also features Nayanthara as the female lead and Suniel Shetty as the antagonist. Rajinikanth plays the role of a cop in the movie. As soon as the film hits the theatres on Friday, it was a mass celebration all across, especially in Chennai.
