Film maker, Ram Gopal Verma, was on Monday directed by the Bombay High Court, to give proper credit to writer Nilesh Girkar, in his upcoming film Sarkar 3, which releases on May 12.

Justice Gautam Patel said Verma will have to mention in all its prints of the film, satellite and digital forms, 'Based on a story written by Nilesh Girkar.' This the court said will have to appear in the opening credits with the same pause, font and prominence as equivalent credits.

Further Girkar has been allowed to withdraw the amount of Rs 6.2 lakhs deposited by Verma with the court as script writing fees. Accordingly the court disposed off the suit filed by Girkar against Verma. It was claimed by Girkar that even though he wrote the script of Sarkar-3, he was not properly credited by RGV, thus he moved the court by filing a copyright violation, suit.

Girkar claimed in his plea had claimed that he had written the script and given it to Verma in 2012 on the condition that he would compensate with a fixed amount, when shooting for the film starts. However, this was dishonored by Verma.
