A court in Angamly has granted two days' police custody to Mollywood actor Dileep, who has been arrested in assault and abduction of an actress case. The police suspects that the incident that caught everyone's attention on February 17 this year was planned in various locations in Kochi and Thrissur. The cops want to revisit these locations with Dileep for gathering evidence on this case and he still needs to be interrogated to know if more people were involved in the conspiracy.

The actor who has been counted next to superstars Mammootty and Monhalal in Malyalam film industry has lost his credibility. Not only has Dileep been expelled from AMMA and other film bodies in Kerala, protestors also gathered outside the magistrate's house shouting loud slogans 'Welcome to Central Jail'. Angry mob even waited for him at Aluva sub jail and raised slogans against the actor who once was extremely popular among the masses of Kerala. But unaffected by booing and catcalls, Dileep was spotted smiling in police custody.

Meanwhile, CPI(M) Kerala unit secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan has said the arrest of actor Dileep in the abduction and sexual assault case of an actress has shown that everyone was equal before law. "However high a person may be, he is equal before law. There was a general feeling among the public that the high and mighty will not be touched. But with the arrest of the actor that misunderstanding stands corrected," Kodiyeri said at Kannur. If police could arrest Dileep, they have all the freedom to nab and arraign as accused any others found involved in the case, he said. Opposition leader in the assembly Ramesh Chennithala said the actor was arrested after a prisoner who shared the cell with main accused Pulsar Suni, had given important leads to the police. He said the Association of Malayalam Movie Artists (AMMA) should be disbanded and its President Innocent, MP, and actors Ganesh Kumar and Mukesh, both MLAs, who all were people's representatives, should also resign as they had supported Dileep throughout.
