Directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller confirmed that The Hunger Games star Woody Harrelson will be part of the Star Wars stand alone movie on Han Solo.

According to a statement on Starwars.com, Lord and Miller said, "We couldn’t be more excited to work with an artist with as much depth and range as Woody. His ability to find both humour and pathos, often in the same role, is truly unique. He is also very good at ping pong."

Though the details about his character are still under wraps, it's being speculated that the True Detective' star will play the role of a mentor figure to young Han Solo to be played by Alden Ehrenreich.

Harrelson will join Donald Glover who has been cast at Lando Calrissian, Emilia Clarke who is supposedly cast as young Han Solo's love interest before Leia.

The movie will be set prior to Star Wars: A New Hope, like the recently released standalone project, Rogue One.

Kathleen Kennedy and Allison Shearmur are producing the film, which is expected to begin production in January.

The movie is slated to hit theatres on May 25, 2018.
