Vin Diesel and The Rock starrer The Fate Of The Furious which also happens to be the eighth instalment in the Fast and Furious franchise has released. The film has already earned Rs 15 crore in two days and is going strong at the box office.

While Fast and Furious happens to be one of the strongest Hollywood franchises in India, with great collections coming from this market, it will be clashing with Vidya Balan's Begum Jaan that also releases this Friday. The Partition drama is another women centric film from Balan where she plays the madam of a brothel who are subjected to torture and have to fight for freedom against the independence.

But when director Srijit Mukherji was quizzed about the decision to clash with the Hollywood film, he told a portal, "I am not scared of the clash. I am just waiting for Begum Jaan to release." This happened before Begum Jaan released this Friday.

The movie has opened to lack-lustre occupancy all across India and will barely put up a decent figure on day one. Plus the clash with The Fate of The Furious has almost sealed its fate too. So there's just one question to the director - was it confidence or arrogance? Either ways, the film will lose out a severe chunk of money because of the face-off.
