A documentary filmmaker based in the National Capital, filed an official complaint with the Delhi Police against Bollywood actor Aamir Khan for allegedly using a derogatory word for police personnel in his feature film PK, The Delhi police department confirmed the same on Sunday, and said that they are looking into the matter.

The filmmaker, named Ullas PR, while speaking to dna said that he filed the complaint only after he came to know about a series of other complaints lodged against the Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal, who last month had allegedly used a derogatory term for Delhi police in a television interview.

"There is no debate on whether the said word is derogatory or not. My issue is that if the sentiments of police officials were hurt after hearing Arvind Kejriwal using the word then why not in the case of Aamir Khan. In the film PK, the word has been used and the movie' was released much before Mr Kejriwal gave that interview to a news channel," said Ullas.

The complaint by the filmmaker reads,"Using a derogatory and demeaning term like 'thulla' to refer to police personnel is equivalent to referring to all Delhi Police officials as lethargic and unproductive, This word, thus has, harmed the reputation of Delhi police in the eyes of the public including Delhi Police's family and friends.

"Such remark, coming from someone like Actor Aamir Khan's stature, was intended to provoke breach of trust".

Police officials told dna that the complaint has been entered into the log book of the department and the matter will be looked into however no confirmation was given on the nature of action that the police will take.

A Delhi Police constable had lodged a complaint of criminal defamation against Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal for allegedly using a derogatory word for cops. A similar complaint was also filed at Lajpat Nagar Police Station by another constable following which the police had said that it was a "non-cognisable offence".
