A retrospective of the celebrated film-maker will be held in Germany to coincide with his 10th death anniversary

Film-maker Chetan Anand passed away ten years ago on July 7. In a bid to keep his father’s memory alive, his son Ketan Anand has directed a 90-minute documentary film on his life. This, along with three of Chetan Anand’s feature films ‘Neecha Nagar’, ‘Haqueequat’ and ‘Heer Ranjha’ (all chosen by Ketan as they belong to different genres), will be showcased at the tribute section of Stuttgarts’ International Film Festival in Germany on July 11.

Says Ketan, “In the 90 minutes, I have encompassed everything from his childhood to the influences he has had as a film-maker, etc. The documentary has a commentary by Tom Alter.”

Ketan, who will be attending the Stuttgart Film Festival, adds, “I am so glad that dad is getting such a wonderful tribute.”

Chetan Anand, who was the elder brother of Dev Anand and Vijay  Anand, was an acclaimed producer and director. His ‘Neecha Nagar’ had won an award at the Cannes Film Festival in 1946. He set up the Navketan productions in 1950s along with his brother Dev.
