Marvel had to have the last laugh at the end of the year! In what can be called a true year of the blockbusters and innovative promotion tactics, Marvel booked the last week of the year to unveil the first look of Benedict Cumberbatch as Doctor Strange.

In the first look shared by Entertainment Weekly, we see Cumberbatch posing in the costume complete with a fake beard and grey strands of hair. The steely, yet mysterious glare shows what the transformation of Dr Stephen Strange, a self centred surgeon, to Doctor Strange, world-protecting sorcerer will look like.

About playing Doctor Strange, Cumberbatch is still figuring out the poses and gestures which are made by his character given the nature of his power leans more towards mind control. At first, he felt really self-conscious, but by the end it turned out great for him. Cumberbatch has also promised some 'crazy s*@#$' when it comes to the psychedelic visual effects in the movie, reports Entertainment Weekly

This is very early of Marvel to reveal the looks of character given that only principle photography of the movie is done and the shoot is still underway. Doctor Strange is set to release on November 4, 2016.

Joining Cumberbatch on the cast of the movie are - Rachel McAdams, Tilda Swinton, Chiwetel Ejiofor and Mads Mikkelsen. Scott Derrickson is directing the movie for Marvel.

Earlier Benedict Cumberbatch and Chiwetel Ejiofor were spotted in Kathmandu shooting for the parts of the movie where Doctor Strange meets The Ancient One, played by Tilda Swinton.

Doctor Strange was also mentioned in Captain America: The Winter Soldier. So it is safe to assume that Stephen Strange has already got his powers by the time Phase 2 of Marvel is over.
