Ridley Scott's Blade Runner Universe is coming back. This time with Ryan Gosling all set to take the baton of replicant hunter from Harrison Ford.

As Scott gives over the reins of the sequel to Arrival director Denis Villeneuve, Ford too passes on the wisdom of Rick Deckard to Gosling's Officer K in the sequel titled, Blade Runner 2049.

Gosling admittedly was overwhelmed by the incredible set of this sci-fi movie just as he was with the prospect of working with Harrison Ford. Ford punched him, shared a hot tub with him, and gave him a lesson in comedy.

In the long line of sequels, prequels and franchises, Blade Runner 2049 is another competitor vying for the attention of a global audience. Let's check out the new images from the franchise—

Beauty and brawn working together

Ana de Armas joins Ryan Gosling on the mission to find replicants. Are they chasing or being chased?

Deep in thought

Denis Villeneuve has already made a place in the good books of critics with Arrival and Sicario. People who have watched Arrival, bringing a sci-fi short story to the big screen, will vouch for his capability to handle the sequel of the cult favourite.

What is Blade Runner 2049 about?

The synopsis for the sequel reads, "Thirty years after the events of the first film, a new blade runner, LAPD Officer K (Ryan Gosling), unearths a long-buried secret that has the potential to plunge what's left of society into chaos."

Change of guard

The movie takes place several decades after the events of the first film that revolved around a retired member of a police officer corps called blade runners, who hunted down replicants on Earth.

Legends at work

Ridley Scott, who vacated the director's chair for Denis Villeneuve, is producing the movie starring Harrison Ford.

The Roger Deakins magic

Ryan Gosling complemented the Academy Award winning cinematographer Roger Deakins.

"Roger is a master. If there's a Mount Rushmore of DPs, he'd be right there in the middle. He goes about his work very modestly and quietly, but you learn so much from just looking. You realise that once you are in one of his shots, half your job is already done."

Working on sci-fi set

This is possibly the first time Ryan Gosling has become a part of sci-fi franchise. The difference of technique and the sets overwhelmed the guy. "It's really incredible. I was so overwhelmed by the scale of them and how specific and, although, beautiful they are,"  said the star.

Blade Runner 2049 is set to release on October 6, 2017.
