Delhi Court has now framed charges against Peepli Live co-director Mahmood Farooqui under section 375 (B) for the sexual assault case that brought him in the limelight late June this year. The court claims that they have found enough evidence to start a trial against the filmmaker.

The trial will be done on a daily basis as the complainant who is a US national, has requested the Court that the trials be conducted because her visa expires on October 5 this year.

According to reports, the alleged assault happened in March and the woman in question filed a complaint against Farooqui at the New Friends Colony police station in New Delhi one and half months back

The victim complained that she was raped by Mahmood at a rented accommodation in Sukhdev Vihar where she met him to have his help for her research work, said the officer, adding that the complainant was known to both Mahmood and his wife.

The accused had met the 30-year-old research scholar from Colombia University in Varanasi where she had gone to collect information about Baba Gorakhnath.

Farooqui, who's married to Peepli Live director Anusha Rizvi was also the scriptwriter and co-director of the film.
