A special screening of the 3D animated movie Chaar Sahibzaade has been organised by the city-based Sikh community on the occasion of 'Gurupurab' of Guru Gobind Singh (birthday of the tenth guru of Sikhs) in December, organisers of the event said.
"The screening will be held to honour those animators who worked endlessly day and night for more than two years, due which their dream was accomplished. We will be holding it in a suburban Mumbai theatre," Ravneet Kaur, one of the organisers told PTI.
Chaar Sahibzaade, a traditional term for the four sons of Guru Gobind Singh, the movie revolves around the brave deaths of the two older sons during the battle of Chamkaur, followed by the two younger sons (Baba Zorawar Singh and Baba Fateh Singh) who were killed together by the Mughals at Sirhind.
"The core of this movie involves actual history over mythology. Compelling human elements like emotions, facial expressions, drama, dialogue and gait invariably assume importance over imaginative landscapes. Sikh history is relatively short in the scope of history, yet incredibly rich and powerful, full of stories of sacrifice as well as unending faith," Kaur said.
Filmmaker Harry Baweja said that he is happy with reactions he has been receiving for his animated film. "I am extremely happy with reactions that I am getting from my audience and from industry people. It has been great so far, I feel blessed," Baweja, who has directed the film said. "The movie has had a huge impact on Sikhs, especially the young generation and kids. After watching the movie, many realised the value of Sikhi and were inspired to take amrit and become a part of the Khalsa Panth," Kaur said.
The film which was released on November 6, 2014, was simultaneously made and released in three languages, namely English, Hindi and Punjabi.
