On Saif Ali Khan's birthday, dna takes a look at his most notable movies in which the actor has aced all kinds of roles. Be it 'Langda Tyagi' from Omkara, or 'Karan' from Hum Tum, the actor has shown his acting prowess in a plethora of roles, by never clinging to a particular genre of cinema.

Endearing his fans for over two decades, the actor has established himself as one of the most well renowned actors in Bollywood.

In 1992, the actor made his foray into the Bollywood industry with movie Parampara and has been a sensation since then.

He even bagged 'Filmfare Best Male Debut Award' for Ashiq Awara, and has been the recipient of several awards since, including Filmfare and National Award, the adept actor was also honoured by the Government of India with Padma Shri in 2010.

Omkara

Directed by Vishal Bharadwaj, Omkara, got prominently positive reviews. The movie is an Indian adaption of Shakespeare's 'Othello' set against the backdrop of politics in Uttar Pradesh, amalgamated with love, jealousy and tragedy.

Hum Tum

He acted as a cartoonist in Hum Tum, whose laid back attitude results in him being too late to realise the love of his life. Produced under Yash Raj Fims banner, director Kunal Kohli's picturisation of Saif as 'Karan' in the movie won him accolades.

Dil Chahta Hai

The national award winning movie starring Saif Ali Khan, Aamir Khan and Akshaye Khanna gave a fresh and relatable subject to movie buffs. Dil Chahta Hai brought Saif into the much-deserved limelight. The film shows the transition in three youngsters' lives, who are close friends. Though the movie couldn't win over the box office, it is one of the most critically acclaimed movies, in which the star acted really well.

Parineeta

Media reports suggest that the film's producer Vidhu Vinod Chopra reluctantly signed Saif for the role. Although, 'Shekhar Rai', Saif's character in Parineeta garnered the actor critical acclaim once again and even got him nominated for Best Actor for a number of awards. Saif featured against Vidya Balan, which was Vidya's break-though in the Bollywood industry.

Cocktail

Directed by Homi Adjania, Cocktail is Saif Ali Khan's another movie which was a blockbuster. Cosmopolitan in nature, the film wonderfully depicted the nuances of friendship and love, tracing the life of Gautam, a role which Saif aced!
