Prakash Jha's production Lipstick Under My Burkha, directed by Alankrita Shrivastava has run into a roadblock following the decision of the CBFC to not certify the film for its story being "lady-oriented, their fantasy above life."  The board in its letter to the filmmaker added that "...there are contentious sexual scenes, abusive words, audio pornography and a bit sensitive touch about one particular section of society”.

The CBFC chairman Pahlaj Nihalani had earlier told the helmer that the committee had unanimously decided to not certify the film. While the makers have reacted sharply against the decision of the Censor Board, several liberal voices in the minority and NGOs have also criticised the decision of the CBFC Chairman.

Now, CBFC member Ashoke Pandit has broken silence on the brouhaha about the film's certification and release. While speaking with ANI, he strongly condemned the decision saying, "I condemn the decision of CBFC of not allowing Prakash Jha's Lipstick Under My Burkha and arrogantly refusing to give certification to the film."

Pandit further added, "This onslaught on maker has broken confidence of a maker, film industry is under a threat of this attitude of Pahlaj Nihalani."

Pandit had earlier tweeted, "I condemn the denial of #CensorCertificate to @prakashjha27 's film #LipstickUndermyBurkha. Its an act of arrogance by Pahalaj Nihalani."

Lipstick Under My Burkha apparently explores and brings to light the secret lives of four women in search of some freedom in a small town in India. The critically acclaimed movie stars Konkona Sen Sharma, Ratna Pathak Shah, Aahana Kumra and Plabita Borthakur.
