In an industry that thrives on oneupmanship, rivalries and individual fame, insecurity and jealousy are bound to make inroads and destroy the best of friendships. Soon, they fuel the engine that drives the gossip columns.

Oh, we've all heard of the feuds they've had in the film industry at any given point in time. And the grudges that struck for years together. But seemingly forever friendships being forged? Whoever heard of that, right?

Bucking the trend are young actresses Parineeti Chopra, Alia Bhatt and Shraddha Kapoor. Of course, there's always going to be talk of their 'on-off dosti', but ask them outright and they'll tell you why cat-fights are a thing of the past, at least where they're concerned.

Parineeti Chopra
Mostly pitted against Alia. She says there's a huge difference between competition and rivalry. "Competition is certainly there. Because, of course, I would love my films to do better than other films and they would want their films to work the best, too," she says. But the actress explains that it's their 'friendship which has taken precedence over everything else. "I would not be happy if their film flops because I really like them. We all chill together, we all party together, go to each other's houses and eat out together! We all are really good friends, more than being competitors."

Alia Bhatt
She had recommended that Parineeti hire a new stylist on Koffee with Karan and stories about their alleged cat fight have not ebbed since. But that doesn't bother Alia at all, she claims. "Both Parineeti and I know how the industry works. Everything that is being written is not necessarily the truth. I don't find the need to clarify myself or our equation to the public. Parineeti and I know what kind of friendship we share and that's more important." She insists that actresses of her generation are not insecure anymore. "We all have films to work on. Everybody is doing great. Parineeti and Shraddha and I are extremely close and such questions have never come up."

Shraddha Kapoor
With all her last three films being runaway hits, Shraddha's career graph, too, has soared. But she shares a sweet relationship with her contemporaries. "Earlier there were reports of a fallout between every two actresses but somehow with us, that stereotype will just be a myth. I don't think we are competing with each other. We don't even bitch about each other, yaar! We are otherwise very boring actresses," Shraddha laughs. Ask her who her best friends are and she shoots back, "Alia Bhatt and Parineeti Chopra." But before signing off, she does make a statement. "People think that girls have cat-fights. They should know that the guys gossip more than the girls here."
