The box office verdict is out and we're shocked! A film like Sanam Re starring comparatively lesser known stars like Pulkit Samrat and Yami Gautam has taken a lead ahead of a film like Fitoor that boasts of heavyweight names like Katrina Kaif, Aditya Roy Kapur and Tabu.

Having said all that, let's get one thing clear. No matter what the collections have been for both the films, they are poor in general. But despite the poor performance at the box office, Sanam Re is still in the safe zone whereas Fitoor is turning out to be a colossal disaster!

Sanam Re, made on a budget of just Rs 20 crore has recovered around half its investment in two days. With collections netting around Rs 5 crore on both Friday and Saturday, the film has already raked up Rs 10.60 crore in its kitty. So for Sanam Re to hit the safe zone, it won't be a difficult task from here onwards even if the film has a rapid fall on Monday. The film is expected to add another Rs 6 crore on Sunday which will mean the film will be closer to Rs 16-17 crore by the end of its three day run. And although its box office performance has been equally disappointing, the film at least will break even.

Same can't be said for Fitoor. The powerful ensemble, the brilliant narrative and the excellently shot locales could hardly bring in numbers at the BO. As a result of this, the film has only brought in around Rs 7 crore in a matter of two days, which is not just disappointing but disastrous. Why we say so? The film's production cost goes up to whopping Rs 70 crore and given the snail's pace at which the film is performing, it will soon be out of theatres very soon and it's very unlikely that Fitoor will pick up anymore. It will have a lifetime around the Rs 20 crore which will seal its fate at the box office!

So we repeat what we started off with. The collections have been under-whelming for both the films, given that they are passionate romantic sagas releasing on a good Valentine's Day weekend. The films could not capitalise on the V-day fervour and has ended up being flop shows. But the tides have hit Fitoor the most because of its heavy investments while Sanam Re makers will still not have much to worry. They might not make too much of a profit but they won't end up making losses as well. As for Fitoor, it's an altogether different story for sure!
