Last year, Ranbir Kapoor-Anushka Sharma's period drama Bombay Velvet had received maximum flak from all corners. The film that was mounted on a magnanimous canvas had a budget of over Rs 120 crore, excluding the promotional costs. After several delays, the film finally hit screens last year in May and tanked without any trace.

The film could only bring in around Rs 30 crore at the BO and turned out to be one of the biggest disasters in the history of Indian cinema. The makers (Fox Star Studios) lost over Rs 92 crore and it wasn't a joke! Bombay Velvet received severe trashing from all corners. While critics panned it left and right, the audiences failed to lap it up and this went down as the biggest mistake of 2015!

Come 2016 and it's another Kapoor and the Kapoor's ex-flame who have hit hard by the box office tide. We're talking about Aditya Roy Kapur-Katrina Kaif starrer Fitoor. The film, touted to be an intense, passionate romantic saga failed to ignite the passion from the viewers. With collections as low as Rs 14 crore after the opening weekend, it's surely going to be one of the biggest disasters of 2016 for sure.

A lot of re-shoot had to happen after Rekha decided to walk out fo the film and Tabu was roped in. Also, Abhishek Gattu Kapoor wasn't too pleased with the rushes which called for further delay. Nevertheless, the total cost of production for Fitoor stands at a whopping Rs 70 crores, excluding promotional costs. Given the pace at which the film is collecting moolah at the box office, it won't show any wonders in the weekday and by the time Sonam Kapoor's Neerja comes up, this will complete almost most of its lifetime run.

The film will hardly manage to add in around Rs 10-11 crore more to its kitty before being out of the plexes. So with a lifetime total around the Rs 25 crore mark, Fitoor is huge letdown, a colossal disappointment, both for the makers and the people involved. And Fitoor certainly has turned out to be the Bombay Velvet of the season. Sadly so.
