Box Office: 'Housefull 3' mints Rs 15.50 crore, becomes Akshay Kumar's second highest opener ever!

The film that released across the nation on Friday recorded a good figure on its opening day at the BO.

Films like Housefull 3 are made for the returns at the box office. It isn't meant for critical viewing but just to go in for a fun roller coaster ride, more of a laugh riot. And that's where Housefull 3 delivers. The film which has been one of the most anticipated flicks of 2016 has everything going for it. Be it the franchise value or Akshay's return to comedy, HF3 was touted to be one of the most bankable films this year.

The film recorded a 35% occupancy across the country in the morning shows but the laugh riot picked up during the evening and night shows which helped it to put up a good total on its opening day. HF3 collected around Rs 15.50 crore on Day 1, according to early trade estimates.

Though it was expected to cross the Rs 20 crore mark, a weak start played spoilsport. Now, the film has also turned out to be Akshay Kumar's second highest opener ever. It fell short of being the highest opener for the actor by just a crore. Singh is Bliing which released last October had recorded a better opening than HF3. But then again, that was a holiday and this wasn't.

Nevertheless, even a Rs 15 crore plus opening is not so bad, considering the release date, What needs to be seen now is how the film fares on Saturday and Sunday and hopefully, the family audience will come in and the film will pick up through the weekend. Will it record a Rs 50 crore plus opening weekend? It looks likely!
