Bollywood fashion designers wanted on TV

Sources say that for the TV premiere of the Kristen Stewart film Snowwhite and the Huntsman, Star Movies is planning to approach well-known fashion designers to recreate the acclaimed costumes. The film’s costumes were created by  academy award-winning designer Collen Atwood, who is said to have made 1,000 outfits, 250 for the battle sequence and 20 for Snowwhite. Now, in what could be a unique publicity campaign, the channel wants to recreate and display the costumes at major malls and theatres to draw attention to the movie premiere. “Neeta Lulla,  Ritu Kumar,  Falguni and Shane Peacock have been approached to recreate the costumes,” says the source.

For another show Manish Malhotra, Sabyasachi Mukherjee, Vikram Phadnis and Pia Benegal (Shyam Benegal’s daughter) have been approached to design the costumes for the female protagonist of an upcoming show, inform sources. The show based on Indu Sunderasan’s book The Twentieth Wife traces the life of India’s most controversial empresses Mehrunissa and her love for Prince Salim. The historical is slated to air on the upcoming channel Epic. Interestingly, even a film on the queen is being planned by Sudhir Mishra.
