Now, she's more like this consort battleship who has the power to carry a film on her shoulders. Producers don't mind investing on a Dippy film anymore. Why? She's possibly the only heroine who's brought such huge returns consecutively over the last few years.

Deepika Padukone started her career in 2006 in a Kannada film Aishwarya and debuted in Bollywood in 2007 with Om Shanti Om opposite Shah Rukh Khan for which she received the Filmfare Award for Best Female Debut.
A volatile journey of many ups and downs followed until Cocktail when people actually started taking her work seriously. But it was only in 2013 that she established herself as a phenomenal actress in the film industry. Starting with Race 2, she acted in three more films that very year. Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani, Chennai Express and Goliyon Ki Raasleela: Ram-Leela, all of which were the top four highest grossers of the year.
In 2014, she acted in two successful films, Finding Fanny and Happy New Year. 2015 had Deepika backing a rather unusual film- Piku. A simple tale of a father-daughter relationship, Deepika added a lot of charm to her character while Bachchan Senior delivered one of the most commendable acts of the year. But Piku was a risk. A risk that paid off well for Padukone. With huge return on investments, Piku's Rs 80 crore success was as huge as any other commercial Dippy entertainer doing Rs 150 crore.
And that also helped Deepika create one record. A string of eight successive hits- something that not many actors have achieved in the past!
Raining Awards!
No doubt, Deepika Padukone is the reigning queen of Bollywood and is undeniably the numero uno actress in the industry. Apart from receiving various awards for her stellar performances, Deepika also bagged various other miscellaneous Awards. That includes "Most Desirable Woman" by the Times of India, People (India)'s "Most Beautiful Woman, Maxim (India)'s "Hot 100" and FHM (India)'s "World's Sexiest Woman". She won the Entertainer of the Year from NDTV in 2013 and at IIFA in 2014. She was also the Star of the Year (Female) in 2014. A Special Achievement Award was also given to her by CNN-IBN in 2013. What do we have to say about it? Truly deserving!
Generating highest revenue ever in a year!
In the history of Bollywood, Deepika Padukone is the only actor who earned over Rs 600 crore in one particular year. Sample this. Race 2 earned Rs 110 crore, YJHD raked in Rs 190 crore, Chennai Express added another Rs 227 crore and Ram Leela too netted around Rs 115 crore, which makes it Rs 642 crore for DP in 2013 itself.
Despite Salman, Shah Rukh and Aamir bringing in huge moolah with all their films, none of them have recorded a Rs 600 crore total in a single year.
Recently, in 2015, Salman crossed the Rs 500 crore mark and previously, Akshay Kumar too had netted over Rs 400 crore in one particular year. As for actresses, no one's even remotely closer to Dippy's monumental feat.
Highest paid actress
With such big blockbusters in her kitty, Deepika Padukone has raised her bar. And she's proved her mettle.
Today, producers are willing to pool in more money for her films. Why? Because over the last three years, Deepika has turned out to be the most bankable actress in tinsel town.
According to sources, she is now charging Rs 15 crore for signing a film. Although that's much lesser compared to the superstar heroes, she's possibly the she-ro who can give them a run for their money. Sometime soon. As for now, she's happy being the highest paid actress of them all!
Most sought after actress
There's no doubt that Deepika Padukone is the most sought-after actress in Bollywood. Directors want to cast her in their films, producers want her to sign their projects, brand endorsers are willing to pay huge moolah to cast her as the face for their brand. And there's a lot more.
For instance, Karan Johar wishes to cast her in his next. Although she has already worked in KJo's production venture (YJHD), Karan wants to direct her soon. Not only directors, even actors want to work opposite her. In a popular show, Salman Khan had said that he wants to work with her in the future but let's see when that happens. There were rumours that she was offered Sultan but nothing fruitful came out of the deal.
