Shilpa Shinde it seems isn’t too happy right now. After being at loggerheads with CINTAA, the former Angoori bhabhi directed her ire at her replacement on Bhabi Ji Ghar Par Hai. Shilpa was replaced by Shubhangi Atre and she told TellyChakkar: “She is a good copycat. I have seen her on the show. You can make someone look and dress like Angoori, but it’s not easy to act like Angoori. She is a good actress and will definitely do well in her career if she stops imitating and does something original.”

When asked about the tussle with CINTAA, she said: “don’t know. I am motivated to continue this fight as I know that I have done no wrong. I am not scared. Yes, some people got upset that I got politicians involved in the case, but I was left with no choice. CINTAA and the producers were the ones playing politics.”

She added: “Kya maanga tha maine (what did I ask for?) I worked hard for the show and my character became popular. Apna aukat dekh ke hi per day maanga tha maine (Depending on my worth I asked for a raise). What’s wrong in that? It was such a small issue which could have been sorted out, but they blew it out of proportion. Now, let’s see where it ends.”

For her part, Shubhangi was moved by the offer. She had said: “Comparisons are bound to happen and I am open to that scrutiny. As actors we wait for such opportunities. It's a huge responsibility to be selected to play an immensely popular character on television.”

Shubhangi said she herself has been a huge fan of the show. "It has a cult following. I myself have been a big fan of the show and all its characters."

"Incidentally, it was my birthday, 11th April, when I received a call for this show and I don't think there could have been a perfect birthday gift," she said. Since Angoori speaks in Bihari dialect, Shubhangi had to work on it. "The signature dialogue of Angoori like 'Sahi pakde hai' and the Bihari accent resonates with masses. So I had to practise that a lot to get the diction and mannerism right."

Shilpa slams CINTAA

Earlier, popular television actress Shilpa Shinde alleged that Cine & Television Artistes' Association (CINTAA) does not work in the best interest of actors in the industry. Shilpa, best known for her role as 'Angoori Bhabi' on the show "Bhabi Ji Ghar Par Hai", had sparked a controversy when she announced that she had quit the popular series and accused the makers of mentally torturing her.

CINTAA had then sent the actress a letter asking her to bear the cost of financial loss incurred by the producer or channels. "CINTAA is an artists' association, but it doesn't help us at all. Artists who do episodic shows, we had told the committee that they should be given conveyance and per day money on time. But nothing like that happened. Artists need work and these people are exploiting that and the association is of no use," Shilpa told reporters.

"These are baseless allegations. Since the new committee has been formed I have received only one complaint from her which was that she was being harassed by the producers of her show. The producer, however, said she had stopped going for the shoot," Sushant Singh, General Secretary and spokesperson, CINTAA told PTI.

"Shilpa got her raise thrice and in fact was under the exclusivity contract since day one. I don't know what the fuss is about," Singh said, adding there is no overcharging of membership fees.
