Best Supporting Actress Patricia Arquette wants wage equality for women

Patricia Arquette got really serious while giving her win speech for bagging Best Supporting Actress at the ongoing 87th Oscars.

After the 46-year-old Boyhood star, who won her first Academy Award, got through her thank-yous, she conveyed "To every woman who gave birth, to every taxpayer of this nation. It's our time to have wage equality once and for all in the United States of America," the Mashable reported.

Her words drew a huge round of applause from the audience, including fellow nominee Meryl Streep.

Arquette, who plays a mother in the film, which is also in the run for Best Director, Best Original Screenplay and Best Picture, beat out Emma Stone in Birdman, Laura Dern in Wild, Meryl Streep in Into the Woods and Keira Knightly in The Imitation Game.

The actress had also won a Golden Globe, Screen Actors Guild Award and a BAFTA Award for her role.
