Barkha Bisht, who was recently seen as Ranveer Singh’s bhabhi Kesar in Ram-Leela, is now set to do an episode of Yeh Hai Aashiqui. She will be seen playing a married woman, Urmi, who is tested HIV positive.

A professor, her marital life is far from happy, when a student Arjun (Shravan Reddy), who is younger to her falls in love with her. “I am a romantic at heart and would love to do a nice love story. However, these days there are not many pure love stories being made. Yeh Hai Aashiqui is not only about romance, it is also realistic. My character is simple and positive. It’s an emotional story of a woman who is shunned by the whole world because of her disease and only Arjun stands by her,” says Barkha.

The actress was last seen on TV in Parrvarish - Kuch Khatti Kuch Meethi, as she had replaced Rupali Ganguly. However, within two months of her entry, the serial went off air. “When you are replacing somebody, the feeling that it will go off air is always in your mind.  Replacements don’t work well. Earlier too I had replaced an actress (Neha Saxena) in Sajan Ghar Jaana Hai but that show was not doing well. In the case of Parrvarish, it was a popular show and Rupali had to leave because she was pregnant.

It was my comeback to TV after two years and I felt bad when it wrapped up,” confesses Barkha, who is now looking at doing a good love story and has some film offers in her kitty. Ask her why TV actors are willing to do small roles in films and she says that in Ram-Leela, she did it for the experience of working with Sanjay Leela Bhansali, but her next films will have her in “important and lengthy roles.”
