Akshay Kumar's latest release Baby has managed to hit the bull's eye. Unlike his other masala action entertainers, Baby is more realistic and unconventionally commercial. Dealing with the sensitive issue of global terrorism, director Neeraj Pandey's treatment to the subject is note worthy. And that has resulted in huge numbers coming in at the box office.
After bringing in about Rs 9.30 crore on its opening day, there was a huge jump in the Saturday collections when Baby netted in around Rs 11.17 crore taking its two day total to Rs 20.47 crore. While the collections might seem a little low, compared to Akshay's other films, given that Baby has a niche audience and is starkly different from massy entertainers that Akki does, a two day total of over Rs 20 crore is pretty good.
The film is expected to pick up even further on Sunday since there is a good word of mouth and a Sunday collection of around Rs 15 crore won't be surprising. All in all, Baby is looking forward to having a Rs 35 crore weekend and the good reviews and slick treatment, the film might do wonders during the weekdays as well.
