Akshay Kumar's latest release Baby might have started a little lower than expected but the film's gripping story line, coupled with some powerful performances has ensured a good opening weekend for the film. The film added over Rs 15 crore to its collections on Sunday.

Baby collected around Rs 9.30 crore on Friday and witnessed a jump on Saturday with collections coming in around Rs 11.17 crore. Overall, the two day collection was Rs 20.47 crore. The Akshay Kumar starrer, which is an edge-of-the-seat slick espionage action thriller, has brought in Rs 15.60 crore on its first Sunday. With that, the total three day collections of the film goes upto Rs 36.17 crore which is really good, given that the film is not an out-and-out commercial flick.

A good word of mouth and a nice repeat audience index has also ensured that the film brings in good numbers at the box office. While Sonam Kapoor's Dolly Ki Doli has failed to gain steam over the first weekend, Baby will enjoy yet another week run unless Ayushmann Khurrana's Hawaizaada does exceptionally well. Hawaizaada releases this Friday and although there will be a bit of screen crunch, the Neeraj Pandey directorial venture might hardly get affected and still score the highest.

The film which has a Rs 35 crore plus opening weekend will now have to bring in decent steady numbers consistently throughout the weekdays to achieve the hit status. The way it is performing now, all seems to be well with Baby
