Marvel's latest release Avengers: Age of Ultron will see the introduction of two new characters, Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch. Aaron Taylor-Johnson and Elizabeth Olsen will play gifted siblings Wanda and Pietro Maximoff.

Wanda is the Scarlet Witch is one of the most powerful Marvel comics characters, known for her thought-altering powers while Pietro is Quicksilver is known for his super speed.

We first see the two characters in the end credits scene of Captain America: The Winter Soldier where they are held captive by the head of HYDRA, Baron von Strucker, and seem to be subjected to experiments using the Chitauri sceptre. Strucker calls the twins 'miracles'.

In the comics, the twins Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch are mutants who become part of Magneto's Brotherhood of Evil Mutants. But since the Marvel does not own the rights to filming X-Men, the film will have to include the two characters some other way.

During the release of Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Marvel had tied in its cinematic universe with its TV show Agents of Shield, the return of HYDRA in the film proving to be major turning point in the show's plotline.

With a Inhumans storyline underway in Agents of Shield and an Inhumans film set for 2019 release, we might see the Marvel Cinematic Universe tie in with the show yet again to possibly introduce the twins as Inhumans. But we'll have to watch the film to find out. For now, it's safe to say these two characters will have a signicant role to play in the larger MCU.
