A chopper ride with Jacqueline Fernandez or 24 hours with John Abraham? What’s it that you fancy more? All you have to do is bid high enough at the fundraiser that will be held on December 14. The event has been organised by the international organisation, Habitat for Humanity, which celebrates its 30th anniversary in India.
To commemorate the event the committee under the leadership of Rajashree Birla is hosting the fundraiser at The Trident, Nariman Point. Through a gala charity dinner and auction, the organisation intends to raise funds through pledges, table sponsorship and the auction of high-end products and interesting, fun experiences. At the auction held for the Indiabuilds campaign, guests can also bid for a special dinner cruise hosted by R Madhavan that will be prepared and served by the head chef of Indigo, a dinner that will be created by chef Ajay Chopra at your home for 10 people, saris from Jade by Monica and Karishma, earrings by Maharani Jewels, and paintings by various renowned artists, among other things.
Speaking about the initiative, Rajashree says, “Shocking as it may seem, there is need for more than 70 million homes in India. The government is doing a lot. But by themselves it is difficult to bridge the gap. Habitat for Humanity is thus helping deliver housing solutions to low income families. But the task ahead is huge, and the cause indeed worthwhile. Decent homes, sustainable livelihoods and a better future — is an aspiration of every person. Collectively, we must make this happen.”
