When Hero approached Arjun Kapoor to endorse their range of cycles, it didn’t take him long to agree. The young actor, who has always been a cycling enthusiast, took it up as an opportunity to relive his childhood.

Arjun says, “More than it just being a mode of transport, cycling is also synonymous with everybody’s childhood. I remember back then, I used to look forward to coming home from school and cycling in the evenings. Today, kids hardly step out of their homes. Even we have stopped stepping out of our houses, we are constantly hooked to our phones and televisions. I want to remind people that you don’t need to be a kid to cycle. It’s healthy and eco-friendly and helps you stay fit along with it being a lot of fun.”

Not too long ago, before he made his debut in films, Arjun used to cycle up and down from Juhu to YRF Studios everyday to stay fit, but not too many people noticed him because he wasn’t a celebrity then. “I have always been a cycling enthusiast. Before Ishaqzaade, when I was trying to lose weight, I used to cycle to the sets quite often. But it’s not like I don’t cycle anymore. When I do it, I do it because I enjoy it. It isn’t done with any intention to draw attention,” Arjun explains.

Is he cautious when it comes to choosing an endorsement? “Actually, it’s more about wanting to affiliate and associate with products I use in my everyday life. I only choose endorsements that give me a certain amount of happiness as a consumer.”

He adds, “The idea is not to preach, but to just remind people. People forget the smaller things in this chaotic life. I am happy to be that wake-up call.”
