The true litmus test for the popularity of a film lies in the collection following the opening weekend and Tanu Weds Manu Returns passed the test with flying colours. The family entertainer directed by Aanand L Rai, starring Kangana Ranaut and R.Madhavan not only created a splash at the box office on its opening day, but also achieved a feat that no other film had in a very long time - The film's Monday collection (following the opening weekend) was higher than its opening day figure and amounted to an approximate Rs 8.90 crore

The film which made a grand entry into the prestigious Rs 200 crore club with a world wide gross of over Rs 200 crore, also seems to be the favorite with audiences in the country as Tanu Weds Manu Returns continues to go strong in its third week, despite facing strong competition from last week's big ticket release Dil Dhadakne Do.

A quick look at the Monday figures also prove that family audiences are rooting for TWMR over DDD as they collected Rs 8.90 crore and Rs 5.77 crore respectively.  If that wasn't all, despite having limited screens, TWMR also ended faring better in India over the opening weekend with TWMR collecting over a crore more than DDD that features a popular ensemble starcast and is made on a higher budget. Tough TWMR was unstoppable at the box office even after its opening weekend, DDD seems to have dipped at the B/O on the weekdays.

Right now, their five day collection rests at around Rs 47 crore, which is much lesser, compared to TWMR which earned over Rs 55 crore in 5 days. So, is the audience favouring Kangana's film over Priyanka's? Statistics does say so!
