AR Rahman back in Oscar race with three nominations

After a gap of four years since he won the golden statue for Slumdog Millionaire, ace music composer AR Rahman is again back in the Oscar race.

On Friday, The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announced the final 114 contending scores from eligible movies released in 2014 to be considered for Original Score category for the 87th Oscars. Indian music maestro A R Rahman is the lead contender with three songs from movies Million Dollar Arm, The Hundred Foot Journey, and Rajinikanth starrer Kochadiiyaan. 

On a surprise entry, Singer-Composer Sonu Nigam and Bickram Ghosh too made the list with their score for Jal.  

The 87th Academy Awards nominations will be announced live on Thursday, January 15, 2015. The Oscar ceremony will be held on Sunday, February 22, 2015,
