Anushka Sharma and Deepika Padukone have been in the industry for a long time now. And so far both of them have not only worked with celebrated filmmakers but have also delivered big blockbusters and made their mark in the industry. Interestingly, last year while Ms Padukone was a part of Happy New Year which raked in big moolah at the box office, Virat Kolhi’s ladylove on the other hand was seen in Rajkumar Hirani’s PK which went on to become the highest grossing film all times. Well, this year too Anushka and Dippy are all geared up to scorch the big screen with their films. Anushka Sharma
NH10: Anushka’s first release this year was Navdeep Singh’s directorial debut NH10. Co- starring Neil Bhoopalam and Darshan Kumaar, this road flick hit the screens on March 13. Not only the PK actress showed her versatility with this flick, the babe even proved that she can carry a film on her own. From critics to audience to Bollywood bigwigs, the leggy beauty impressed one and all with her maiden production.
Bombay Velvet: Anurag Kashyap directorial is Ms Sharma’s next release this year. Set in the ’60s, Anushka will be seen playing a jazz singer in this film which also stars Ranbir Kapoor and Karan Johar in pivotal roles. A lot has been said about Bombay Velvet whose trailer was unveiled just a few days back. While it received mixed response, this Anushka starrer is certainly one of biggest releases of this year.
Dil Dhadakne Do: After Bombay Velvet, the Band Baaja Baaraat actress will be seen in Zoya Akhtar’s family drama Dil Dhadakne Do opposite her ex-flame Ranveer Singh. Since the B-town beauty has teamed up with Singh, there is a lot of buzz around this one. Though technically Anushka isn’t the leading lady in DDD, we hear she plays quite an interesting part in this flick.
Deepika Padukone
Piku: DP’s first release this year is Shoojit Sircar’s Piku co-starring Amitabh Bachchan and Irrfan Khan. This film is about father-daughter relationship and Ranveer Singh’s girlfriend for the first time will be seen sharing screen space with Big B. In fact, its the first time that Dippy, Sr Bachchan and Irrfan have come together for a film. With such a stellar star cast and intriguing storyline, Piku is one of the most-awaited films of this year.
Bajirao Mastani: Next on Deepika’s list is Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s magnum opus Bajirao Mastani with Ranveer and Priyanka Chopra. Well, all eyes are on this film as the Ram-Leela trio have joined hands once again and Ms Chopra’s inclusion is like the icing on the cake. Though this period drama is releasing at the end of this year, it has already created immense curiosity.
Tamasha: This Imtiaz Ali directorial may not hit the screens this year but the project has been in the news ever since it was announced courtesy it’s lead star cast. Yes, Deepika will be seen romancing her ex-flame Ranbir Kapoor in this flick. In fact, going by the on location pictures which have been doing the rounds on the internet, it seems DP and RK yet again have something really interesting in store for us.
