Ek Boond Ishq is all set take a five-year-leap and there will be a complete change in the story line. It will also lead to the entry of new actors. While Viraf Patel, Chhavi Pandey and Vishwajeet Pradhan will be retained, Ankur Nayyar has been roped in to play the parallel lead, Om. In fact, Chhavi was planing to quit the show as she did not want to play a mother. She agreed to stay back only after they reached an understanding that she will play an aunt, taking care of her sister's child.

For the role of Om, the makers had initially approached Nandish Sandhu, but due to date issues, he is said to have dropped out last minute and Ankur was cast in his place. Ankur will start shooting in two days.

His character will be slightly grey. Says a source, "Tara (Chhavi Pandey) will be seen living with a new family which mainly has a brother and sister and Ankur will be playing the character of the brother. He will start shooting in a couple of days." The actor has done several shows including Woh Rehnewali Mehlon Ki and Yahan Mein Ghar Ghar Kheli and was last seen in Maharana Pratap.
