Bungalows of many Bollywood actors have been found to be breeding spots of dengue-causing mosquitoes, according to reports. Keeping this in view, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation's (BMC) insecticide department has sent notices to actors like Jitendra, Anil Kapoor, Juhi Chawla and singer Amit Kumar at their residences to take immediate measures about the issue.

The dengue-mosquito breeding den was also found in BMC's own backyard after one of the organisations's doctors was diagnosed with dengue. The actors were issued notices under the Mumbai Municipal Corporation Act for not keeping their premises clean, according to reports. Whoever is slapped with the notice has to pay fines ranging from Rs 2,000 to 10,000 in magistrate courts.

BMC's insecticide officer, Rajan Narinrekar said, "The actors had to be prosecuted under the stricter sections as they failed to prevent breeding in their premises despite a mammoth awareness campaign undertaken by the BMC since January. It is unfortunate that 90% of dengue breeding in the city is happening in high-rises and bungalows."

However, BMC said that some Bollywood actors have been abiding by the rules and did not have a single mosquito breeding spot in their premises, some of those actors include Amitabh Bachchan, Shilpa Shetty and Sanjay Khan.

Data states that in 2015 almost 469 confirmed cases of dengue and three deaths have already been reported. BMC said there have also been more than 2,500 suspected cases of dengue in September. Around 861 confirmed cases of dengue were reported in all in 2014 which included 12 deaths.
