It's becoming something of a joke, really. All this on-the-spot 'creation' of awards to appease those who caked up and showed up. But it really rankles us that while some get merit-based recognition, the best names don't. Here's a list of few actors who should have been awarded this year...

Aamir Khan for PK
While Shahid is picking up awards for a sterling turn in Haider, it boggles the mind that Aamir doesn't even qualify as 'Star Of The Year'. Just because he doesn't show up?

Nawazuddin Siddique for Kick
His performance in the Salman-starrer wasn't just effortless, he even managed to overshadow the star in some scenes. His superb act in the film deserved an award. Watch out, Prashant Raj, there's a new claimant to your funny villain throne.

Ronit Roy for Ugly
Forget `100 crore, it didn't even make half that, but the Anurag Kashyap film made quite an impact with audiences, who found it one of Ronit's strongest performances her. Neither he nor Girish Kulkarni have been recognised. No Breakthrough Performances awards, even? Who deserved it more?

Dimple Kapadia for Finding Fanny
Seen as a haughty, no-nonsense middle-aged woman in Finding Fanny, the boofty-ful actress was a sight for sore eyes. And her impeccable comic timing didn't even merit one award?

Amit Trivedi for Queen
No awards yet for one of Bollywood's most gifted composers today. Instead, Ankit Tiwari's bagging them all for Galliyan from Ek Villain. Couldn't it have been a tie between the two?

OUR TAKE
Just because certain artists boycott awards, doesn't mean they don't deserve them. All this celeb-pleasing has to stop at some point!
