Amitabh Bachchan wishes a 'Happy Daughter's Week'; bats strongly for gender equality

Celebrating the spirit of daughter's week, megastar Amitabh Bachchan said a daughter in today's times is equal to having "ten sons".

The 72-year-old Piku star took to Twitter to wish fans happy daughter's week.

"Happy daughter's week. Daughter is not equal to tension but in today's world daughter is equal to ten sons," he wrote.

Bachchan, whose daughter Shweta Nanda recently wrote an open letter wishing him on Fathers Day, said daughters are special as they are irreplaceable.

"You can always call your daughter as beta (son), but you can never call your son as beti (daughter)... That's why daughters are special."

Bachchan recently played a doting father to Deepika Padukone's character of modern day independent daughter in the drama-comedy Piku.
