In a few cases, women also misuse the law which has been made to protect them, megastar Amitabh Bachchan said on Monday. He was speaking at a press conference about his recently released film "Pink", which deals with the issue of crime against women and society's reactions.

There have been instances where women misuse the law meant to punish the rapists or the molesters, he said. "People have said there is no law for men. There have been cases when women are misusing this law. Many friends have said that they have also faced it (such a misuse). It's working in reverse way, but (in) very few cases," he added.

Asked about his views on the capital punishment, Bachchan said some people argue that a person who is arrested for a murder or other heinous crime spends a long time in jail before the case is decided and verdict of capital punishment is handed out, and this uncertainty might be more serious than the original offence.

Reacting to Sunday's terrorist attack in Uri, Bachchan said he expected a strong action.

"With the good news about our film "Pink" doing well, I was saddened with the news of soldiers who lost their lives. It's sad that without any provocation or anything our soldiers have lost their lives...I think the government will take strong action," he said.

"Pink" producer Shoojit Sircar echoed him. "It is a very unfortunate incident. It's a sad news. We are delighted that our film "Pink" is getting good response but I am feeling bad for what has happened," he said.

Shoojit said his job as a filmmaker was to show what happens in the society. "My job is to reflect what happens in the society," he said.
