The 10-month-old show Amita Ka Amit aired on Sony is likely to go off air next month. Despite the hype around the show about the dreams of two youngsters from a Gujarati backdrop, it failed to elicit a good response. Says producer Siddharth Kumar Tewary, “We did our best but the serial’s ratings were on the lower side. It’s the channel’s decision to take it off air and we have to accept it.

However, the date is not yet finalised.” Chandni Bhagwanani who plays Amita avers that though nothing has been communicated to her, she will miss shooting for the serial when it closes down. “I have decorated my make-up room with my pictures and some cartoons. The set has become a house to me and I will miss my co-stars. Also, the producer was accommodating and would give me leave during my exams. But I guess, whatever happens it’s for the best,” she sighs.

The actress adds that Amita’s character is close to her and she also dreams of marrying a handsome guy like Hrithik Roshan! “There is a thin line between being innocent, cute and kiddish. Initially, it was difficult, but I managed it. It was only in the later portions where I am married and I suspect Amit (Nishad Vaidya) of having an extra-marital affair that I found it challenging as I had no experience. The director asked me to see some films like Judaai to get an idea and perform,” she smiles.
