'American Sniper' becomes highest grossing film of 2014 with $500 million earnings

Clint Eastwood directed movie 'American Sniper' has grossed $500 million globally and has become the highest grossing film of 2014 after beating 'The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part I' last weekend.

The Warner Bros. and Village Roadshow movie cashed-in $337.2 million domestically, with $163 million internationally as it got released on more than 4,900 screens in 57 markets, Deadline.com reported.

The Bradley Cooper starrer film has earned $20.5 million in the UK, $15.1 million in Australia, topped with $16.8 million in France whereas scored second position with $12.2 million in Japan.

This military action thriller film has become the biggest debut this weekend for Eastwood ever and went on to become the director's top title of all time.
