FX network is shuffling the order of the upcoming two installments of "American Crime Story". "The Assassination of Gianni Versace" will now air as a second season of the anthology series

The Hurricane Katrina-themed installment, "Katrina: American Crime Story," whose filming has been pushed to early 2018, was originally scheduled as the second season, but is now third in line in the franchise created by Ryan Murphy, reported Variety.

"The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story," will explore the murder of fashion designer Gianni Versace, who was murdered on the steps of his home in Miami Beach by serial killer Andrew Cunanan. He committed suicide on a house boat eight days after killing Versace.

Edgar Ramirez will play Gianni Versace, Darren Criss will portray Cunanan, Penelope Cruz is Donatella Versace, and Ricky Martin will play Gianni's partner, Antonio D'Amico.

However, in case of "Katrina" it is unclear whether all big-name actors who had been locked, including Annette Bening, Dennis Quaid and Matthew Broderick, will still be available to do the series on the new timetable. Talks with them are underway.

"Katrina," which tells the story of America's response to the devastating 2005 storm, was picked up first as a followup of the hugely successful "The People v O J Simpson: American Crime Story".

It was originally slated to film this spring and debut later this year, with the third installment, "Versace", filming almost simultaneously but airing in 2018.
