A contestant on "America's Got Talent" has filed a lawsuit against model-actress Tyra Banks for humiliating her daughter on the show.

The contestant, identified in the suit as Jane Doe, said she and her husband felt "humiliated" by the judges and the audience, who criticised the song they sang about their daughter Mary, reported Variety.

The duo had performed a song at the taping on March 19, which was about their bond with their daughter, who was also present.

The suit has been filed in LA Superior Court, accusing Banks of battery and assault.

According to the suit, the contestant alleges that Banks pulled her daughter's hair back, physically manipulated her, and insinuated that the girl was accidentally conceived.

"Mary was traumatised and became deeply depressed. Mary would become extremely nervous and anxious whenever, among other triggering events, she hears any mentions of (the) song and (the) song itself..." the suit stated.

The couple seek damages for infliction of emotional distress.
