The Mumbai traffic police, during their drink and drive crackdown on Monday midnight, chased a speeding SUV and held the son of veteran actor Alok Nath after he fled when asked to stop. The actor's son had visited a birthday party and was driving back home when the incident took place.

Shivang Nath was with his friends and was driving back from attending a birthday party when his vehicle SUV (MH 02 DN 8446) was signalled to stop near Khar police station. As the driver fled, the car was later intercepted near Santacruz police station and booked for drunk driving and for not possessing a driving licence.

"The friends of the actor's son created ruckus inside the police station as they were drunk while we recorded the incident on the cellphone," said a Santacruz police station official.

DCP Ashok Dudhe, PRO for Mumbai Police, revealed, "The Bandra traffic division was conducting the special drive to curb drunken driving when the car did not stop and was later intercepted at SV road near Santacruz," said Dudhe.

"The accused has been booked for drunk driving, not possessing licence and disobeying police orders and we have collected a deposit of Rs 2500 and asked him to be present in court for further proceedings," said Dudhe.
