Last year, it was Anil Kapoor's slick and gritty socio-political thriller series 24 that changed the face of Indian television. Bringing in a huge shift from the usual rona-dhona of the daily soaps and the fake drama of the reality shows, 24 set a new benchmark for the small screen. Soon, mini-series became the flavour of the season and got people hooked!

This year, as Jhakaas Kapoor plans to return with the season of the show, he explains that it will only get 'bigger and better' every season. "24 came at a very tough time and I am happy it broke the regular stereotypes. Thanks to it, the audiences today are more interested in watching mini-series which is why a lot of them are coming up in India too." While the first season prepared the audiences to a different form of TV viewing, Anil tells us that he feels 'more responsible now'. "Last time, people could not make much money. In the second season, I want everybody to make more money."

Anil Kapoor is also gearing up to bring in Modern Family on Indian TV as well. Talk about the paradigm shifts on the small screen and he's mighty pleased. He adds, "In my own small way, I am just trying to get their work culture over here. What's good in the West is their discipline and professionalism. So I want to get all that - the aesthetics, the scale and the madness of their films and series. One day, it will be global standard. Anything I do, I only feel that people all over the world should just see it and feel, 'This is excellent'. It shouldn't be tacky."

While the story and the cast for the second season has been finalised, it's only about a few months' time for the show to roll with its second edition. Rensil D'Silva and Abhinay Deo will helm the show this time.

THODA SA DELAY

During the interviews of Dil Dhadakne Do, Anil had quipped, "We start shooting for 24 in August." But there's been a delay in the shoot now. Why? Rensil tells us,  "We were initially supposed to start this month but it got a little pushed and now, we have locked dates for an early November start. That's when we begin filming for it." He explains, "Abhinay was busy filming Force 2 with John and Sonakshi. He left for a 50 day schedule to shoot his film and will be back only later. Till then, I will be directing the show and then, once he's back, we will do it together."

KUCH ALAG

Although the series will begin months after where it ended last season, Rensil reveals, "This will be a different story, a different mission altogether."

SAME CHARACTERS!

There has been numerous speculations about the cast as well. But Rensil rubbished all such claims. "The continuing characters remain the same. We might have new characters but the main characters will still be the same."

NO URMILA?

Along with several talks about the cast, grapevine is abuzz that Urmila Matondkar might play Anil's wife in the second instalment. Rensil denied it saying, "No, these reports are totally untrue. Tisca Chopra will continue playing the wife. Urmila is not there on the show."

HEAVY ACTION

The series itself is very 'action heavy and is as per international standards'. But with season 2, Rensil plans to take a step forward. "The production values are similar as Hollywood and this time, we will have much better action sequences for sure. The tapes go to the original owners of the franchise and they also see the episodes. So we have to live up to their expectations," Rensil tells us.

ONLY IN 2016

Like last year, the crew will continuously film episodes while the show starts airing. "We start shooting in November so we will probably start airing early next year. Probably around January." Talk about the delay there and Rensil defends, "Although we show 24 hours, we have to shoot footage of over 30 hours which is similar to making 10 films at a time. Then we edit it and present it. So it takes a lot of time."

200 DIN KA SHOOT!

The shoot will go for over 6 months, Rensil reveals. "It's basically a 200 day shoot. A lot of time goes in the prep time and mostly in post-production. So we shoot till almost mid next year." Anil also confides, "Till mid-next year, I will be busy with 24. So after Welcome Back, there are a few projects which I am looking at right now. But they will only start after I wrap up 24."
